As you read this sentence, you are already hearing one Central student’s voice. Now imagine what would happen if that voice were amplified, shared, and heard far beyond our school community. As we all know, Central High School is one of the biggest and most diverse high schools in the city. Central has always been a place filled with students who have questions, opinions, and ideas worth sharing. Now, those voices have a new platform to reach beyond our school community.
TEDxCentral High School is a student-led chapter at Central. Built around the motto “Ordinary people, extraordinary ideas,” the club aims to create a space where students and people of the wider community can share ideas that deserve to be heard by the world.
TEDxCentral High School offers a new opportunity for Central students to turn the ideas they care about into something that can be shared with an audience far beyond the school. Rather than limiting these ideas to classrooms, club meetings, or Instagram/TikTok reels, students can develop them into talks and share their perspectives with the public.
Through TED-style talks featuring students and guest speakers, TEDxCentral High School aims to bring different perspectives together and create space for conversations that challenge and inspire. Although the chapter is based at Central, its goal is to connect students with people and perspectives they may not encounter in their everyday lives, while giving them a platform to amplify their own voices.
For students who join the club, that means becoming part of the team behind the event. Members can contribute to areas such as speaker and content development, marketing and design, finance, and event operation, helping bring the TEDx experience to life from behind the scenes. The ultimate goal is to organize an event that can be published on the official TEDx YouTube channel, allowing a small idea from our community to reach viewers around the world. An idea that might otherwise remain personal could become a perspective that resonates with and inspires someone else across the world.
The goal is simple: give ordinary people a stage to share extraordinary ideas.
