Sitora Muradova (288)
There are new teachers coming almost every year to Central, and the best way to get to know them is by interviewing them. One of the newest teachers in the language department is Mrs. Colondres. This is her first year teaching at Central; however, she has taught at other schools in the past. Some of the freshman class (289) and the sophomore class (the great 288) may have her as either a Spanish 1 or Spanish 2 teacher this year. Expect to see why Mrs. Colondres wanted to teach at Central and learn more about her background.
What made you want to become a teacher at Central and why?
“I always wanted to become a teacher at Central. Since 2014, I have been trying to get in here because I always wanted to teach in an academic school.”
What did you do before coming to this school?
“I got my bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, and I wanted to continue studying, and I completed my master’s degree in education. At the same time, I worked at an elementary school for 20 years as a language teacher. And after 20 years teaching babies, I decided it was time to grow up and move to high school.”
How would you describe your experience at Central so far and why?
“An adventure because I am a floating teacher and I don’t have my own classroom. I am getting used to changing rooms and walking around. I love the students, how they’re motivated, have goals for the future, and that gives me energy and hope. Just what I was looking for, really.”
What has been your favorite part about our school so far and why?
“Definitely the students. The students make the school, and it’s wonderful.”
What do you hope to achieve teaching during your first year at Central?
“What I want to achieve this year is I want to feel that I am part of the school community and truly feel like I belong. This school is different from my previous schools. It’s a whole new process for me.”
What makes Central different from your previous schools?
“It’s an academic school. That’s what you see first. There are many other things, like participating in clubs and people helping each other out.”
What is your main goal or hope for your students this year?
“To feel that they can learn Spanish as a second language. Not to feel afraid to make mistakes because that is how we learn.”
