Dungeons and Dragons (DND), a fantasy tabletop role-playing game, takes over the fourth floor every Wednesday. Table Top Game Club (TTGC) currently hosts four different role-playing campaigns (DND groups), each with around five members. TTGC even has campaigns that teach novice players the rules and ways of how to play DND. Club President Sophia Vertlieb (285) shared that “it’s an environment that’s really open to new people because we’ve gotten a lot of people who’ve never played the games before, so we’ve built in systems to teach [new members].” Vice President Kiva Huxen (285) joined her freshman year and noted, “I showed up later that day, and I’ve been there ever since.” Even if Dungeons and Dragons isn’t your thing, you may find yourself enjoying the lively environment of the club. Sophia says even when she’s just in the room doing homework, “I feel like I still have a lot of fun [when I’m] not playing,” due to the atmosphere they’ve created. Overall, club members describe the club as a great and welcoming community for players and non-players alike.
TTGC doesn’t just host DND campaigns, but also sundry events. Sophia shared, “Mainly, we have a lot of artists and creatives in the club, so we usually do design competitions. This year, we did a pumpkin painting competition, and then for the holidays, we did cookie decorating.” Although some activities may not be gaming-related, the prizes sure are. The most recent prize for the pumpkin competition was a pound of dice! During club meetings, snacks and ramen are sold to help raise money for the club, so you can snack while gaming.
If you find yourself enjoying board games and Dungeons and Dragons, TTGC may be the club for you! The club meets every Wednesday in Mr. Fowler’s room and is always welcoming new club members and players. Feel free to reach out to cabinet members or Mr. Fowler if you are interested in joining.
