In the city of Philadelphia, football isn’t just a “game,” it’s a battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and the entire nation. With the Eagles’ previous win during Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, many residents of Philadelphia have their hopes set high on them winning in the upcoming games. Their first-ever game of this season was against the Dallas Cowboys and was held in the Eagles’ legendary home, Lincoln Financial Field. Before starting the game, the owner of the Eagles, Jeffrey Lurie, along with retired two-time Super Bowl Champion Brandon Graham, unveiled the Eagles’ championship banner. This hyped up many fans in the crowd and at home watching. The Eagles are known to have the best offensive line in the NFL, enhancing their running game and leaving the scoreboard at 24-20. The Cowboys were close, but not close enough to surpass the Birds soaring wings flying high up!
Their second game was on September 14, 2025, against the Kansas City Chiefs, Philly’s most sworn enemy. During the game, the Eagles only generated around 216 yards, indicating that their offense was highly unstable and very poor for a team in the NFL. However, one of the game’s highlights was when Andrew Mukuba intercepted a pass by Patrick Mahomes and, with no hesitation, returned it 41 yards. The game ended with the scores at 20-17, leaving the Eagles victorious.
There are varying opinions on how the Birds are doing. To start, a recent graduate, Zemzem Saif (283), considers these games “hard to watch” because of how the points fluctuate, “especially within the third and fourth quarters.” Even so, the Eagles always prevail, managing the game well enough defensively and offensively to be able to win yet another game, even when passing hardly any yards.
Additionally, Mr. Edger, the current substitute at the Barnwell Library, is also a huge fan of the Eagles. In spite of that, he didn’t think the Eagles played at their best in their first few games. Within the first half of their last game, against the Los Angeles Rams on September 21, the Eagles seemed not to be doing as well as most hoped, but in the second half, the game started to become more intense due to the better defense the team showed. The Rams drove down the field for what seemed like an easy game-winning field goal, but fans were shocked to witness Jordan Davis scoop up the blocked kick and return it 61 yards for an insane touchdown, switching the score to 33-26. Within the post-game interview, Jordan Davis mentioned that he noticed something off about the kicker and had a plan to make the block.
Ultimately, the Eagles are now flying by with a magnificent winning streak to start off the season. They have a long way to go, but with their strong will and ability to persevere, we know they’ll win! Go Birds!
