There has been prominent controversy surrounding the use of AI at Central High. People claim that it can be misused, that it isn’t always credible, and that someday it may even take over the entire world. Though those things may be true, there is also a bright side to AI. If used correctly and responsibly AI could be a big help and act as an assistant in times of need. It’s free and efficient. However it is important to always maintain integrity, responsibility, and accountability when using AI. Yes, we should be present in the real world, and we maybe shouldn’t stick our noses inside of our phones every three seconds. But, used responsibly, AI and advanced technology allows for more accessible information at a fast and easy pace. Crunch time? AI. Need your notes organized? AI. Have a big test you had absolutely no idea about? AI. Want to know the wonders of what goes on in the galaxies or just the outside world, need a quick rundown of the Krebs Cycle, or just want to get a head start on Physics? AI. Just need a friend to talk to in a brief moment of loneliness? AI has the answer. Many students at CHS are familiar with the responsible use of AI, as they personally integrate it into their everyday lives. Akofa Deh (286) states, “AI is one of the greatest resources for the modern student, and if you use it properly, it can help accelerate learning.” She even goes on to list the methods and resources she uses, such as Quizme. Schyl Arisandi (286) states, “I use AI to study because it’s like another study partner for me. It can ask me good questions, and I can easily modify them to how difficult I need it.” Finally, Thuan Nguyen (286) states, “AI is a very powerful tool. Especially with the advancements in AI technology, it’s a very keystone resource that top students use.” During crunch time, those spare five hours to spend researching things on the vast internet aren’t always available, no matter how vital the information may be. In an environment where most people are busy, teachers aren’t always available, and no one has time, AI at CHS ensures that people have the quick and easily accessible aid that we all need. AI acts as a tool that does the long part for us. If you are wary about the information or its sources, it is definitely a good option to simply check them. And if you’re a person that uses AI and technology irresponsibly, it is definitely a good idea to stop. So, let’s stop slandering, misusing, and discontinue tabooing AI. Instead, let’s approach it with a bit of caution, and a bit more appreciation. AI keeps us, or at least can keep us on our toes. Think it over and act responsibly. Maybe you could use a bit of AI in your life too.
