During the spring and late summer months, temperatures are fairly high. This poses a problem when paired with Central’s lack of air conditioning. It is known that Central is one of the many schools in Philadelphia that does not have sufficient air conditioning to regulate the temperature throughout the building. The lack of temperature regulation creates feelings of exhaustion, dizziness, and fatigue that can overwhelm the hundreds of students going up and down staircases and walking through hallways trying to get to each class. The topic of AC systems has been a long term issue among many students that exists not just in Philadelphia, but throughout the country. In Wyoming, students actually skipped class and took to the streets to protest. “Some parents even joined the protest, saying temperatures inside the school can be potentially dangerous.” Central is a massive school with five floors, so a project like this would take a lot of time. Getting AC in places like the basement, where the heat is almost suffocating upon entering, should be prioritized. The basement constantly has  student-athletes practicing hard for their games through the heat. They deserve to have a cool and comfortable environment to train. Air conditioning is not something that future classes should have to worry about. Let’s start this project now and eliminate the problem!
